About Us

Richter, Head, Shinall, White & Slotkin, LLP is a civil litigation law firm based in Atlanta, Georgia. Our firm maintains a statewide practice defending employers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation cases. We represent businesses at all stages of growth, from small locally-owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies.

Jim Richter, Steve Head, and Rick Shinall established the firm in 1998 with an emphasis on providing excellent legal service while developing strong client relationships. After 15 years with the firm, Jim Richter retired in January 2013. Rick Shinall became Of Counsel in January 2018. Steve Head continued practicing with the firm until his passing in September 2022.

David White has been with the firm as an associate since its inception, and became a partner in 2000. Bert Slotkin started with the firm out of law school in 2001, and he became a partner in 2007. Kevin Skedsvold joined the firm as a partner on January 1, 2022. Angie Tartline, Hastings Johnston, Rahul Sheth, and Matt Cumper joined the firm as partners on September 1, 2022.

Our Team

David White

David White is a partner of the firm and a native of Atlanta, born on April 2, 1969. He attended the University of Georgia graduating in 1994 magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science. He graduated from the Georgia State College of Law in 1994 having served as President of the Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity and two terms as President of the Federalist Society.

Bert Slotkin

Bert Slotkin is a partner at the firm. He earned his Bachelors of English (cum laude) from the College of Charleston in 1997. He then earned a Master’s of Public Administration in 2000, from the Georgia State University-Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. This was followed by a Juris Doctorate in 2001 from Georgia State University’s College of Law.
