Matthew S. Cumper
Matt Cumper is a partner at Richter, Head, Shinall, White & Slotkin LLP who has over a decade of experience in representing the interests of employers, insurers, and third-party administrators throughout the state of Georgia. His practice focuses on all aspects of workers’ compensation litigation. Matt has litigated cases before the State Board of Workers’ Compensation and briefed and presented appeals before Georgia’s appellate courts. Matt also maintains a specialized focus on subrogation recovery, protecting his clients’ interests by asserting and enforcing liens in cases involving third-party fault. His strategic approach to subrogation ensures that his clients maximize recovery opportunities while minimizing exposure.
In addition to his litigation practice, Matt is dedicated to helping employers and insurers understand the complexities of workers’ compensation claims and keep pace with new legal developments through client-focused education and development programs. He regularly conducts employer training sessions designed to implement effective claims-handling strategies and mitigate potential exposure. Matt earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Boston University and his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law. His passion for litigation was cultivated during law school, where he competed as a part of Wake Forest’s American Association for Justice Trial Team, an experience that deepened his understanding of courtroom dynamics and effective trial strategy.
